Introduction
The successful candidate will provide an internal and external communications service to the organisation and support the implementation of the internal and external communications plan.
Job description

KPA 1 Coordinate External Communications
1.1. Source, write and edit articles for various external publications this includes four publications of Gaz’lam per annum and an Annual Report.
1.2. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to produce and distribution printed materials and publications for advertising and educational purposes for example flyers and brochures.
1.3. Ensure proper online archiving of all publications on the powerhouse and intranet for example policies and white papers.
1.4. Edit, update and curate content for social media and the website.
1.5. Draft monthly social media content plans.

KPA 2 Coordinate Interactions with The Media
2.1. Monitor all news clips using monitoring tools to maintain a database of clips and write quarterly reports.
2.2. Keep a log of all media enquiries.
2.3. Monitor media policy implementation through bi-annual media audits and recommend corrective action for any deviation detected.
2.4. Maintain a database of media and update constantly.
2.5. Plan and coordinate Media Day at least twice a year nationally.

KPA 3 Coordinate Communication Audits
3.1. Conduct internal and external communication audits for all the regions to help structure and standardise all communication.
3.2. Analyse results, draft reports and publish recommendations.

KPA 4 Coordinate Thought Leadership ProgrammeI
4.1. Provide communications support to Special Projects within the organisation.
4.2. Provide communications support to the Medical Department and Scientific Review Committee to build and advance a Thought Leadership Programme within the organisation.
4.3. Plan and coordinate one round tables or public dialogues with the media per annum
4.4. Source relevant newsworthy information for various communication material from internal stakeholders including white papers, abstracts and medical journal articles.
4.5. Find opportunities to collaborate and form solid relationships with government through engagement and sharing of data.
4.6. Position SANBS as an employer of choice by showcasing the SANBS Learning and Development Programme externally and internally.
4.7. Provide communications support to internal stakeholders attending exhibitions and conferences locally and internationally

Minimum requirements

Education:
  • Degree in Communications/Journalism/Public Relations
Experience:
  • 5 years' experience in PR / Communications / Journalism enviroment
Other:
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent copy writing skills
  • Computer literacy - MS Office
  • Writing and editing skills
