The incumbent will perform overall operations, testing and authorize release of test results in the Haematology, Chemical pathology, Microbiology and incoming materials section of Quality Control department and assist the Head: QC in their absence in handling complex technical functions. Works within established rules, regulations, policies and practices.

Minimum requirements

  • Diploma in Biomedical Technology
  • Registered Medical Technologist in Clinical Pathology
  • Registration with a professional body HPCSA

Experience:

  • 3 Years Clinical Pathology experience.

Other (skills & knowledge):

  • Be familiar with the accreditation guide (ISO: 15189) for diagnosistic purposes and (ISO: 17025) for lab
  • Understanding of Blood Transfusion Standards.
  • Understanding of HPCSA regulations.
  • Understanding of SANAS regulations and audit process.
  • SAP and Meditech oratories and good laboratory practice.

Job Specific Requirements

  • Drivers License and out of hours transport necessary
  • Overtime as and when required
  • Work on public holidays if required
  • Participate in rostered call duty
  • Travel and overnight stays
  • Work in adverse conditions, such as walk-in cold rooms, freezers and with hazardous chemicals and solutions
  • Computer Literate
